WHY
CAFFEINE FREE?
Caffeine is a powerful stimulant.
In fact tea and coffee contain several addictive drugs which
cause a range of problems including migraine, anxiety, depression,
insomnia and palpitations. Even decaffeinated drinks contain
traces of caffeine and other drugs which are also stimulants.
Caffeine stimulates the adrenal glands to release adrenaline
and cortisone. These two hormones shut down digestion, release
glucose into the bloodstream and increase the heart rate.
This process uses up nutrients. In time the adrenal glands
become exhausted, needing more stimulation. We often experience
a craving for caffeine when this happens. The long term overstimulation
of the adrenal glands can lead to exhaustion and chronic fatigue.
Tea and coffee have a range of other effects on the body.
Caffeine causes the body to lose chromium which maintains
stable blood sugar levels. It also increases acid in the stomach.
Caffeine and tannin deplete the body of vital minerals (zinc,
potassium, iron).
Coffee and tea are such a mainstream part of our culture it
is hard to believe that they are so bad for us. Giving up
tea and coffee often leads to severe headaches, aching joints,
tiredness, depression and anxiety for a few days. When this
happens you realise you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms
from your daily consumption of tea and coffee.
